Tiara equine - the source for Knabstruppers in Canada!
Tiara Equine believes that while a good horse can come in any colour, a discerning owner should have the choice of all the flash they can imagine in the horse of their dreams, and this should go hand in hand with athleticism and the easy going temperament that we have always strived to offer in our sale horses. We breed quality amateur friendly horses of all breeds, but have a particular interest in the Knabstrupper breed.
The Knabstrupper is a Danish Warmblood, and although it's origins are traced back to 1812, the breed has risked going extinct since then. In 2002 the first Knabstruppers were imported to North America, and it is estimated that they are only a few hundred KNN registered horses here currently. The Knabstrupper is valued for their excellent temperaments, trainability, stamina and amateur friendly natures, as well as their colourful coats. The breed shares the same coat patterns as the Appaloosa but are bred for english sport, allowing crossing with warmbloods and thoroughbreds.
Worldwide there are estimated to be a few thousand of this rare breed, with only up to 400 in North America, and less than 30 in Canada in 2017, with momentum growing as more and more horse people discover this amazing breed.

OUr contribution to the knabstrupper breed
Tiara Equine has become a significant contributor to the Knabstrupper breed in the last several years. In 2015 we imported 2 young Knabstruppers; Lindegaards Elliot and Sartors Jet-Set, in order to build the first ever Knabstrupper breeding program in Ontario, and one of the very first in Canada.
We selected our horses after a tour of Denmark, Germany and Prague, and chose one top quality filly and one colt. Our horses went on to achieve impressive keuring results, both winning their categories and Best in Show on several different occasions.
The first Ontario born Knabstruppers arrived in 2017, and we've bred a few excellent quality foals each season. As a young breeding farm new to the Knabstrupper breed, we have worked in partnership with some prominent US breeders both to gain education on the breed and bloodlines, to create new pairings, and to match riders with their dream spotty. Tiara Equine has welcomed over 30 Knabstruppers through their barn from a number of breeders. We host a bi-annual inspection with the KNN from Denmark.
